Electrolyte Drink Mix

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 tsp lime juice powder
  • 1/4 tsp citric acid
  • 1 scoop stevia
  • 1/4 tsp salt (~1,000 mg sodium)
  • 1/8 tsp potassium chloride powder (~200 mg potassium)
  • 60 mg magnesium malate powder (or separate magnesium supplement)

Preparation:

  1. Add all ingredients to small container.
  2. When ready, mix with 16 to 32 oz of water to taste.

Use for extra hydration during intense workouts or ketogenic diet. I make in batches to save time. This recipe mimics LMNT “Recharge” powder mix.

Punch

Ingredients:

  • 6 oz frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
  • 6 oz frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
  • 1 qt apple juice, chilled
  • 2 qts ginger ale, chilled
  • raspberry, orange, lime, lemon, or rainbow sherbet (optional)

Preparation: In large punch bowl, stir together concentrates and apple juice. Stir in ginger ale.

Scoop sherbet into balls and spoon into punch. Or, float ice cubes in bowl

(As an alternative, substitute 11.75 oz Hawaiian punch and 2 oz frozen limeade concentrate for the orange juice and lemonade.)

Serves: 14 1-cup servings

Bieri Punch

Ingredients:

  • a “Fifth” (750 ml) Southern Comfort
  • 6 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 6 oz can frozen lemonade concentrate
  • 6 oz can frozen orange juice concentrate
  • 3 quarts 7up
  • ice ring with cherries in it
  • orange slices for garnish

Preparation: Mix liquor and juices, chill. Add 7up last, along with garnishes.

Brandy Slush

Ingredients:

  • 9 cups water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 green tea bags
  • 12 oz can frozen orange juice concentrate
  • 12 oz can frozen lemonade concentrate
  • 2 cups liquor – brandy, rum, or vodka
  • club soda, seltzer, or sour for mixing

Preparation: Bring the water and sugar to a boil. Remove from heat. Add the tea bags and steep until cool. Add orange juice, lemonade, and liquor.

Freeze overnight in an ice-cream pail. (I use cottage cheese containers for easier fit in freezer.)

Strawberry Margarita Slush

Ingredients:

  • 10 oz fresh or frozen whole strawberries
  • 1 can (12 oz) frozen limeade concentrate
  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 cup tequila
  • 1/4 cup triple sec
  • 4 cups lemon-lime carbonated beverage

Preparation: In blender place strawberries, limeade, water, tequila and triple sec. Blend until strawberries are chopped and mixture is blended. Pour into nonmetal freezer container. Cover container; freeze 8 hours or overnight until icy, stirring a few times after 2 hours.

To serve, stir mixture; spoon into 10 glasses. Top each serving with 1/4 cup carbonated beverage and stir till slushy. Rim the glasses with sugar.
(Triple batch fits in ice cream pail)

Yield: 8-10 servings
